It’s all about that lighting.
If you are selling anything, it needs to look good. You can spend TONS on lighting. But, for most resale sites (from clothing to hard goods) you only need slightly better than natural lighting to make sales. I used to dread taking pics of dark clothing and avoid these pieces from my “reselling death pile” like the plague before I picked up this ring light. Also, think about your background. A simple white backdrop is always classic. Or you could get funky with a grassy background, marble, or wood! For flat lays furry rugs are popular or try a faux marble slab.
If you have the luxury of space and want more light and even BETTER looking photos, you may want to go the ‘Soft Box’ route. You can place 2 soft boxes on either side of your product/clothing to eliminate shadows and have an incredibly well lit listing. Affordable Soft Box Kit on Amazon.
You Can’t Sell, If You Can’t Ship
When I first started selling, my shipping process was awful. I would hand write all my labels, take my packages to the post office where they would weigh each item and charge me for shipping. Wow. Now, I can avoid the PO lines all together. I pack my items in some super cute poly mailers, use a nifty postal scale to weigh my packages, I buy my postage (at a discounted rate!) online, print out the labels on my Dymo, and have my mail carrier pick up my items or drop ‘em off. This has lessened SO much anxiety for me. Yes, it’s pricey — but it’s worth it. PLUS: It’s a thermal printer - you never have to buy ink! Get it on Amazon!
